MedSchool Monday Tip: 3-13-18

So, a quick tip for current/future Med Students: Make sure that you don't burn out! You can easily go 16-20 hours straight every day and still not feel like you are getting everything done, so burn out is a big problem and one of the main reasons people wash out of med school.
So, two things to make sure you are doing:

1. Sleep! I know that sounds silly but sleep is one of your most important resources! You need to take care of it and budget it just like you do your finances. Don't sleep too much. But more importantly and what you are more likely not to do: SLEEP ENOUGH!
You will be tempted to study 20-22 hour days every day, every week. Please, don't do that to yourself. I've done it and, all in all, it did more harm than good!
One way I have found to work best is: invest in a daily planner. The one I use is by Panda Planner and I really enjoy it! (I'll include Amazon links at the end of the article... I'll also do a full review later.) I schedule out my day and do my best to stick to it, especially Bedtime and Wake up Time!
2. Reward yourself! Take time for you, if you enjoy painting, playing computer or console games, swimming, watching your favorite show, or exercising in the gym, make sure that you take time to do that! Do it to reward yourself, like 30 minutes of playing a game after you get home from 6 hours of classes. It will recharge your brain and allow you to study better and harder in the afternoon. IT IS A GOOD INVESTMENT!
I reward myself by playing either by myself, or with my wife on our Nintendo Switch Console, or I play a bit on my Computer. It can be either handheld or on our TV!
